Python (Django) developer

Full Time, Relocation
Amersfoort, Netherlands
Posted 2 weeks ago

Be part of an international organisation focussed on delivering solutions for current and upcoming energy initiatives that help transform the energy and mobility markets.

Work with highly skilled co-workers in a creative environment to build and extend software solutions for our diverse set of customers. Help improve the way we design, build, test, deploy and monitor software components that deliver value to our users every day.

You want to work with the latest technology and so do we. Avoiding legacy is something we try very hard, so if keeping current is important to you, you will feel right at home.

We are just starting out on Python so you will be influential in shaping our solutions. We are considering the use of Django as the primary framework for back-end development with PostgreSQL as our database platform. How we build, test, deploy, and monitor … we have some ideas of course, but your help is invaluable here!

You will be working in an environment that runs a heavily Java-based stack against a variety of front-end technologies (see our Java and JavaScript software developer job postings for more details), but we are embracing Python for the majority of our more experimental back-end development. We believe that Python offers a more incremental approach to software development that is best applied on new product and market concepts.

Of course there is much more to talk about, so feel free to fire away questions!

How we work
We use two main agile development methods, Scrum and KanBan. JIRA drives our development cycle and is integrated with GitHub. We also use Confluence and have recently adopted the full version of Slack for better teamwork.

What about you?
We would like to believe that every good developer would be right at home at company. But honestly that could never be true. So you should consider this position of you have at least 5 years of development experience, are at least familiar with the latest developments in Python 3 and the Django framework, and have at least some experience with distributed software development. If your primary focus is on using Python for Artificial Intelligence or mathematics, then you might end up disappointed as we simply don’t use these technologies on any substantial scale.

We offer assistance with relocation as well as obtaining the necessary documents for employment in the Netherlands.
